Pat Cummins has been named as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The Australia Test and ODI captain will replace Aiden Markram at the helm.
SRH had broken the bank for the 2023 ODI World Cup-winning captain Cummins in the IPL 2024 players auction by spending Rs 20.5 crore on the 30-year-old. It is no surprise that the Australian has been asked to lead SRH in IPL 2024 after the team finished at the bottom in a 10-team table in 2023 with only four wins form 14 matches.

Apart form guiding Australia to the ODI World Cup title, Cummins also led the team to World Test Championship 2021-23 title.
Cummins will begin his campaign as SRH captain against Kolkata knight Riders (KKR) on 23 March at the Eden Gardens. Cummins has previously played for KKR and Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL.
“India is like a second home. We spend so much time here. IPL you’ve got your home teams. So you actually feel like you’ve got plenty of fans Or, you know, at least cricket fans that have, you know, supported you or, you know, lots of people come up to me and say, Oh, I’m from Kolkata or I go for KKR. So it’s nice feeling like not everyone’s against you,” Cummins had said on Star Sports.
