The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) auction takes place in less than a month’s time, and building upto that, Sunday (26 November) was the deadline for all franchises to submit their retention and released players list. Some big names were retained, while there were a few marquee names released by franchises as well. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni ended all speculations regarding his IPL future after he was retained by the franchise. However, CSK have released England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is set to undergo a knee surgery ahead of the Test series against India in January. Other big names to be released by the respective franchises include Shakib Al Hasan (KKR), Jofra Archer (MI), Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB) among a lot more players. Amidst all this, Hardik Pandya’s reported move to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans is what is grabbing the headlines in the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore go into the option with the biggest purse among all teams, of Rs 40.75 crore. RCB had traded in Mayank Dagar while trading out Shahbaz Ahmed. RCB currently have an 18-member squad and need seven more players to complete the team. The IPL auction, meanwhile, is slated for 19 December in Dubai.
