Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player of all time in IPL history as records tumbled during the 2024 players’ auction in Debuai. First, it was Pat Cummins who broke the record Sam Curran (Rs 18.5 crore) had set in the 2023 IPL Auction. Cummins was bought for Rs 20.5 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR spent Rs 24.75 crore to acquire the services of the Australian pacer. It was on the expected lines as Starc was touted to trigger a bidding war but KKR spending Rs 24.75 crore for the pacer was beyond any imagination. Starc recently won the ODI World Cup 2023 with Australia but his last IPL outing came in 2015. He has only featured in two seasons and has 34 wickets to his name in 27 matches at an economy of 7.17.
