The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will start on 22 March, it was announced by BCCI on Thursday. The first match of the season will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. So far the BCCI has only announced the schedule for the first 15 days due to the tournament clashing with the General Elections. The remaining schedule will be announced after the dates for General Elections are released.
IPL 2024 schedule: CSK to host RCB on 22 March in first match; full fixtures
Besides CSK vs RCB matches that kicks off IPL 2024, some of the other big matches are Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya facing his former team Gujarat Titans, while Lucknow Super Giants against Royal Challengers Bangalore will be an exciting contest as well.
IPL 2024: Here’s why BCCI has announced schedule only for first 15 days
Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play two home matches in these 15 days and they will be shifting base from Delhi to Visakhapatnam for their home games at the start of IPL 2024 as Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 matches are also taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and the ground will need some time to get ready for the T20 league.
