The IPL 2024 final will not feature a single player from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Surprising as it may be, that’s the truth and it was confirmed after Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 36 runs in the Qualifier 2 on Friday. SRH will play Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final on 26 May at Chennai and that match will not have a single player from India’s main squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
KKR have Rinku Singh in their squad but he is only part of the reserve list for the ICC event and doesn’t feature in the 15-member main squad .
Things could have been different if RR would have reached the final.

Rajasthan have three players – Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Yuzvendra Chahal – who are part of the T20 World Cup squad.
Another team that was eliminated from playoffs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also had two players from the squad – Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj.
But with KKR and SRH not having a single player from India’s main T20 World Cup 2024, we will have an IPL final where India’s so-called best T20 players will not take part.

Coming to the Qualifier 2.
In the do-or-die match, SRH batted first and scored 175/9 with Heinrich Klaasen scoring 50 and Rahul Tripathi making 37.
RR, however, were restricted to just 139/7 as spinners Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) starred in the middle overs.
In the crucial clash, Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) and Dhruv Jurel (56) were the only two RR batters to reach double-figure scores.
