Delhi Capitals (DC) has replaced Lungi Ngidi with all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk in their squad for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has taken 25 wickets, was ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has already played two ODIs for Australia.
The Aussie, who joins DC for his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh, is a big-hitting opener and leg-spinner.
Ngidi is the second Delhi player to be ruled out of IPL 2024 after Harry Brook . The English batter pulled out of IPL 2024 on Wednesday due to personal reasons. He was acquired by DC in the players auction at a price of Rs 4 crore.
The reason for Brook’s absence wasn’t revealed at first but later the English cricketer took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that he pulled out of IPL 2024 due to the passing of his grandmother. He had also pulled out of the Test series against India.
“I can confirm that I have made the very difficult decision not to play in the upcoming IPL. I was so excited to be picked by Delhi Capitals and was so looking forward to joining up with everyone. Whilst I don’t think I should need to share my personal reasons behind this decision, I know there will be many asking why. So I do want to share this,” Brook wrote.
“I lost my grandmother last month — she was a rock to me and I spent a huge amount of my childhood in her home; my attitude to life and love for cricket was shaped by her and my late grandfather. When at home, there would hardly be a day go by that didn’t include seeing her.

Apart from Brook, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson and Jason Roy from England have also pulled out of IPL 2024.
