Devon Conway, who has not played a single match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for Chennai Super Kings, was officially ruled out of the tournament on Thursday. CSK have named Richard Gleeson as his replacement for the remainder of IPL 2024.
England fast bowler Gleeson has played six T20Is for England and has nine wickets to his name at an economy rate of 8.90. In 90 T20s, he has 101 wickets at an economy rate of 8.18 and joins CSK at his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh.
Gleeson had gone unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, but is now set for his debut in the cash-rich T20 league.
Conway, who played for CSK in the last two IPL seasons, was ruled out due to a thumb injury. He has scored 924 runs in 23 IPL matches including nine fifties and boasts a highest score of 92*.
