Team India will be back in action from 6 July as a side full of young players and IPL stars will take on Zimbabwe away from home in a five-match T20I series. The Indian cricket team will be captained by Shubman Gill. The team will also be without most of the big names including Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel among others as they have been given a rest following the 2024 T20 World Cup win.
Rohit Sharma, who recently led the Men in Blue to the T20 World Cup victory, and Virat Kohli retired from T20Is after the ICC title win.
Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who were part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad, have also been picked for the Zimbabwe tour but they will miss the first two T20Is as the team got stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl and only returned to India on Thursday morning. They were also part of the victory parade on Marine Drive which saw more than 300,000 fans turn up to celebrate Team India.
