India vs South Africa: Mohammed Shami ruled out of Test series, Deepak Chahar withdrawn from ODI squad

Mohammed Shami, whose participation in the South Africa Test series was subject to fitness has not been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team and the fast bowler has been ruled out of the two Tests. The BCCI has not named a replacement yet. India will also be without the services of Deepak Chahar in the ODI series against South Africa as the pacer is unavailable for the assignment due to a family medical emergency, the BCCI informed on Saturday. The senior men’s selection committee has named Akash Deep as Chahar’s replacement in the ODI squad. Shreyas Iyer will join the Test squad after the first ODI to prepare for the Test series. He will not be available for the second and third ODI and will take part in the inter-squad game. India head coach Rahul Dravid will also not be available during the ODI series. Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T. Dilip will link up with the Test squad and oversee their preparations for the inter-squad game and the Test series.
