Having conceded a defeat against South Africa in the first Test, Team India will now be aiming for a win in the second fixture to avoid a series defeat. The second and final Test of the series is scheduled to start from Wednesday, 3 January at the Newlands in Cape Town.
The Proteas exhibited sensational bowling in the series opener to get the better of India by an innings and 32 runs. South Africa’s Dean Elgar, who is set to play his last Test against India in Cape Town, was adjudged Player of the Match in the opener. Elgar had played a stupendous knock of 185 in the first innings of the match against India. Elgar will also lead the hosts in the second Test. Elgar took up the captaincy duties having replaced injured Temba Bavuma.

Weather conditions in Cape Town on Wednesday, January 3, are expected to be sunny with a mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day. There is no chance of precipitation on the opening day of the second Test between India and South Africa.
The temperature will hover between 20 to 28 degrees Celsius on the first day of the second Test. The humidity is expected to be around 55 percent on Wednesday. The wind speed is predicted to be around 28 km/h during the first day of the Cape Town Test.
