India vs South Africa, 1st T20I Highlights: Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India will lock horns against Aiden Markram’s South Africa in the first T20I in Durban on Friday. The two teams, who faced off in the 2024 T20 World Cup final in June, will play a four-match T20I series, with matches being held in Durban, Gqeberha, Centurion and Johannesburg.
Since that T20 World Cup final on 29 June in Barbados, where India emerged victorious, the Men in Blue have undergone key transitions as far as their side is concerned.
Seniors Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja had announced their retirement from T20Is following the T20 World Cup final, and since then, the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar have taken over.
Rohit Sharma was the India captain at the T20 World Cup, but now the captaincy baton has passed on to Suryakumar Yadav, whose spectacular catch changed the script of the T20 World Cup final.
Sanju Samson also features in the India squad to face the Proteas. Samson is coming off a century he scored against Bangladesh in the third T20I in October, and will be looking to maintain that kind of form against South Africa. Newcomers in the India squad include pacers Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak.
As far as South Africa are concerned, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen return to the squad after having last featured for the Proteas at the T20 World Cup final. South Africa, however, have rested star pacer Kagiso Rabada.
