Ticket prices for this year’s T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean are starting to reach astronomical levels days after going live to the general public, with those for the blockbuster India-Pakistan clash going as high as Rs 1.86 crore!
India-Pakistan cricket matches are among the most hyped sporting events in the world and tickets for a showdown between the two arch-rivals, especially in ICC events, are known to get sold out within minutes of going live. It appears to be no different in the first-ever major cricketing event taking place on American soil where India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in New York City on 9 June.
According to USA Today, tickets for this year’s T20 World Cup have already made their way to resale websites such as StubHub and SeatGeek and those for sold out matches such as India vs Pakistan as well as the Men in Blue’s meeting with with Canada on 15 June in Lauderhill are being sold for at least twice their original prices.

The soaring ticket prices for the T20 World Cup could end up rivalling those of the NBA or Major League Baseball.
While the cheapest ticket on StubHub is currently worth US$ 1,259 (Rs 1.04 lakh), the most expensive ticket on SeatGeek is pegged at US$ 175,000 with another US$50,000 charged in fees, taking the total amount to Rs 225,000 (Rs 1.86 crore).
“We expected that to have a good interest in tickets, both in the West Indies and the U.S., especially the novelty of being a World Cup. But the response we’ve got is actually very, very exciting. Very well beyond our expectations actually,” Tournament Director Fawwaz Baksh was quoted as saying according to the report.
