That brings us to the end of our coverage of the first semi-final of the 2023 ICC World Cup with India becoming the first team to enter the final after having been the first to qualify for the semi-finals. It was a tense affair after all, but the only time the Black Caps really had the Indians worried was during Daryl Mitchell’s partnerships with Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips that were worth 181 and 75 respectively. Mitchell did his utmost to take the chase deep, and dished out another brilliant knock under pressure, but succumbed to the pressure that the Indians managed to create and sustain with regular fall of wickets from the other end.
India will now sit back and watch the events of the second semi-final where South Africa take on five-time champions Australia in Kolkata. The way they performed in the semi-final to extend their winning streak to 10 in the ongoing World Cup however, the Men in Blue will back themselves to beat whichever side qualifies for the summit clash that takes place in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
