This is India’s first win over New Zealand in ICC tournaments in 20 years, what a match this was. Virat Kohli will be gutted to have missed the century, but his knock set the platform for India’s win. 

India’s win means they are now the only unbeaten team in this World Cup, as New Zealand succumb to their first defeat of this campaign. India go to top of the points table with 10 points, with New Zealand in second with eight points.

Mohammed Shami bowls the final over of the New Zealand innings. Shami has been excellent in the second half of his spell. However, in this over, Shami is punished by Daryl Mitchell, who launches a six over the bowler’s head towards the sightscreen for a much-needed six for New Zealand. 

However, Shami soon got rid of Daryl Mitchell, who was caught by Virat Kohli at wide long on. New Zealand finish with a total of 273. They would have hoped to go beyond 300, but it’s now upto the Indian batters to do their job as they look to chase down a target of 274.
