Rohit Sharma has been excellent as the captain of the young Indian side in the ongoing Test series against England. He has been vocal and has never shied away from belting out orders to his teammates. He has also been extremely precise with his field placements and it was evident once again in the first innings of the fifth Test match currently being played in Dharamsala.
Kuldeep Yadav was on song as soon as he was introduced into the attack and he picked up the first three wickets of England. Jonny Bairstow came out all guns blazing and tried to put pressure back onto the Indian bowlers. Rohit needed to be proactive with his field setup then and he ensured that his close-in fielders were exactly where he wanted them to be.
At one point, Rohit, In his inimitable style, trudged to backward short leg and placed Sarfaraz Khan into the right position by dragging him. He then strolled to the leg slip region, looked at Bairstow and marked Yashasvi Jaiswal’s position by scraping his spikes on the ground.

As has been the case in the series, England were cruising along without any bother when the Indian bowlers, led by Kuldeep, orchestrated a collapse. From 100 for one, moments before lunch, England slipped to 175 at the loss of three wickets and then were down in the mire at 183 for eight. Kuldeep Yadav registered a five-wicket haul. It was his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

More ShortsRavichandran Ashwin, playing his 100th Test, took care of the tail to end with figures of four wickets for 51 as England were bundled out for 218 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
For England, opener Zak Crawley was the top-scorer with 79 runs, but none of the other batters could hang around. Jonny Bairstow scored 29 runs, but his dismissal saw England lose ground rather quickly and cede the advantage to India. Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal then started the Indian response strongly and hurtled to a 50-run stand. Both batters were aggressive against the England spinners. Jaiswal returned to the dressing room having produced a fine knock of 57 off 58 balls.
