India vs England 3rd ODI LIVE Updates: Rohit Sharma-led Team India will be aiming to complete a 3-0 series sweep when they take on England in the third and final ODI in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, although the larger focus will be on finalising heir preparations for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The BCCI announced India’s final 15-member squad for the showpiece event on Tuesday and the major headline was that of Jasprit Bumrah’s forced exclusion due to injury . Harshit Rana has been included in the Champions Trophy squad in place of Bumrah, whereas spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been named in place of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. On Wednesday, though, the Men in Blue could experiment with their playing XI and one of the changes could be bringing in Rishabh Pant in place of KL Rahul .
Rahul, India’s first-choice wicketkeeper, has aggregated just 12 runs from the first two ODIs. Another change that India could make is by bringing in Arshdeep Singh in place of Mohammed Shami, who could be rested so as to remain fresh for India’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh on 20 February.
Shami had only returned to international cricket after a 14-month absence in the recently-concluded T20I series against England, after having recovered from an ankle injury. India could also bring back Kuldeep Yadav in place of Varun, who made his ODI debut in the second match in Cuttack.
As far as England are concerned, they could bring back Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer, while also welcoming back Tom Banton to the playing XI. Banton, who last played an ODI in 2020, has been named as cover for the injured Jacob Bethell.
