Rohit Sharma-led Team India take on Bangladesh in a warm-up match of the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York on Saturday. This will be the final match for the Men in Blue before they get their campaign underway against Ireland on 5 June. The last time India played a T20I was against Afghanistan in January this year, but many of their players got the opportunity to impress in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), before the final 15 were announced.
Team India arrived in the United States on 26 May, and have held a few practice session with an aim to adapt to the conditions in the country. While a majority of the squad arrived, Virat Kohli is expected to reach the US ahead of the warm-up fixture but it remains to be seen if he would take part in the warm-up contest.
This will be the final opportunity for both teams to finalise their potential playing XI ahead of the showpiece event. As far as India are concerned, one of the major calls will be on who between Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson would play come the tournament proper.
Another question will be who will be Jasprit Bumrah’s pace bowling partner. Bumrah is all but a certainty to become a prominent figure in India’s lineup, but Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj have both been inconsistent in the IPL. India also have depth of spinners, with as many as four spinners in Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yzvendra Chahal.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, are coming on the back of a 2-1 series defeat to the United States, and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has said that the defeat will come as a “wake up call” for the Tigers.

But having said that we have to play the World Cup and this series might be a wake-up call for us as we haven’t played the way we want to play,” Shakib had said.
