India vs Bangladesh Highlights, 2nd T20I in Delhi: India clinch series with a huge 86-run victory

INDIA THRASH BANGLADESH BY 86 RUNS! CLINCH THE SERIES 2-0 WITH A GAME TO SPARE!

Arshdeep returns for his third over in the 19th over of the innings, with five coming off it including a couple of leg byes. Reddy then bowls out the final over, dismissing Mahmudullah first ball to sign off with excellent figures of 2/23 from four overs in addition to his game-changing knock of 74 off 34.

Bangladesh were briefly on top after reducing India to 41/3 inside the powerplay with the Men in Blue in trouble after captain Suryakumar Yadav’s dismissal. Reddy and Rinku Singh’s 108-run fourth-wicket stand, however, turned the game on its head and it was all India for the remainder of the match.

Mahmudullah misses out on a half-century in what is his penultimate T20I appearance as he holes out to Riyan Parag at long on to depart for 41.

Nitish Reddy, meanwhile, has two wickets after smashing a game-changing 74 earlier in the day. Bangladesh, meanwhile, are one wicket away from getting bowled out. BAN 127/9 in 19.1

Mayank Yadav signs off with figures of 1/30 in his second international outing, conceding a boundary to Tanzim in his final over.

Nitish Reddy, meanwhile, grabs his maiden international wicket in the following over as Tanzim hits the ball straight into the hands of Pandya, who collects his third catch today.

Mahmudullah brings up the 100 for the Tigers with a mighty six in Mayank’s third over, clearing the midwicket fence with ease. He smashes another one in the following over, this time off Chakravarthy’s bowling that easily clears long on. He’s batting on 36, and will be hoping to bat out the remaining four overs, even if guiding the Tigers to victory from hereon appears improbable.

Rishad Hossain manages to collect a boundary off Riyan Parag’s bowling, hitting the ball towards the wide long on fence where Rinku attempts to pull the ball back inside but nearly ends up crashing into the LED fence.

Rishad targets the same region in the following over, off Chakravarthy’s bowling, and this time Hardik Pandya pulls off a blinder of a catch while running to his left. Second wicket of the evening for the mystery spinner, and India are three wickets away from clinching the series with a massive victory.

Mahmudullah smashes the first ball after the drinks break for a six over long on. The umpire signals a no-ball later in the over after Parag was found to have bowled far too wide past the tramline and behind the umpire as well. The over, however, ends with Miraz holing out to the substitute fielder at substitute fielder Ravi Bishnoi at wide long off while attempting to smash the ball for a maximum.

Mayank, meanwhile, collects his second international wicket in the following over with a 147.9 kmph thunderbolt that Jaker Ali attempts to pull, but ends up mishitting after getting hurried into the shot. Sundar runs to his right and completes a fine running catch.

Bangladesh reach 70/4 at the halfway stage of their chase, needing 152 to win from 60 balls. Mahmudullah and Mehidy will need 3-4 big overs if they are to keep themselves in the hunt.

Express pacer Mayank Yadav, meanwhile, is introduced in the 10th over and he starts off with a nine-run over that includes a front-foot no-ball.

BOWLED! A third Indian spinner strikes in as many overs as Abhishek ends up castling Hridoy, who gets a thick edge that redirects the ball towards the stumps. The Tigers lose their fourth wicket with less than 50 on the board.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz brings up the team fifty in the following over with a boundary off Chakravarthy.

Things go from bad to worse for Bangladesh as Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das depart in successive overs, falling to Washington Sundar and Varun Chakravarthy respectively.

Shanto looks to smash the ball over long on in the third delivery of the fifth over, but isn’t able to clear the boundary rope as Hardik Pandya completes an easy catch. Chakravarthy then breaches Das’ defence with a googly off his first ball of the evening.

BOWLED! Arsheep responds in style after getting struck for three boundaries by Emon in the first over, as the southpaw chops the ball onto the stumps to depart for 16. And Arshdeep gives him quite the send-off with a death stare!

Reddy, meanwhile, keeps it tidy in the first five balls of the following over until getting struck for a massive six by Litton in the final ball, with the ball landing in the second tier beyond long on.

Emon’s off to a quick start from the word go, collecting three boundaries in the very first over as Arshdeep’s off to an expensive start. Seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Reddy starts off from the other end and concedes six, including a brace in the final delivery.

Three wickets for leg-spinner Rishad Hossain today, all of them coming in the final over as he signs off with figures of 3/55! And with that, INDIA SET BANGLADESH A HUMONGOUS 222 TO WIN IN DELHI!

Pandya’s the first to depart, holing out to Miraz at deep extra cover in the first delivery after Rishad starts with a wide. Varun Chakravarthy perishes for a two-ball duck two balls later, getting caught at long off. And Arshdeep Singh manages to smash the fourth delivery for a six, only to get a thick top-edge in the next delivery that results in a simple catch for keeper Litton Das.

Mayank Yadav is the last man to walk out, and he collects a single off the final delivery as India post 221/9 on the board.

Mustafizur concedes 10 in his final over, getting hit for a maximum by Pandya in the first ball as the senior all-rounder picks a slower ball and clobbers it over long on. And in the following, Tanzim ends up conceding a four to Pandya in the second delivery followed by back-to-back sixes ot Riyan Parag later in the over, the latter picking a slower ball in the fourth delivery and smashing it over cow corner before smashing the next one over long off.

Tanzim, however, signs off with a wicket off his final delivery as Parag is caught by Mahmudullah at long on while trying to slap a slower bouncer down the ground.

India, meanwhile, have gone past 200 and still have an over left.

OUT! End of an incredible knock by Rinku as he holes out to Jaker at deep midwicket while attempting to hook a short ball from Taskin for a maximum. He departs shortly after bringing up his third T20I half-century as Taskin Ahmed signs off with outstanding figures of 4-0-16-2, conceding three runs for his second wicket in his final over.

FOUR! FOUR! SIX! What a way for Rinku Singh to bring up his half-century in just 26 deliveries! The southpaw pulls a short ball from Tanzim past short fine for a four in the fourth delivery that is followed by a drive through extra cover for a second consecutive four and a thick top-edge that sends the ball flying over the keeper’s head, all the way to the sight screen!

Hardik Pandya too is off to a flier, smashing a four and a six in successive deliveries from leg-spinner Rishad right after making his way to the centre following Nitish’s dismissal.

OUT! End of an incredible knock from Nitish Reddy, who announces himself at the international stage just three days after his debut! The SRH batter ends up skieing the ball towards extra cover while attempting to smash an off-cutter from Mustafizur out of the park. Mehidy settles under the ball and safely grabs the ball, as the century-plus fourth-wicket stand is finally broken.

Quite the forgettable evening for Mehidy as he ends up going for 26 in his third over, as the partnership between Nitish and Rinku goes past the century mark! And it’s all Nitish in this over as he smashes the senior spin-bowling all-rounder for three sixes and a four to move into the 70s with plenty of overs left for him to bring up his maiden international hundred.

Shanto brings the pacers back in play after the drinks break at the halfway stage, with Mustafizur and Taskin bowling the next two overs. ‘Fizz’ ends up going for 13 in his second over, Reddy smashing him for a six in the fourth ball followed by a four to Rinku two balls later.

Reddy then dispatches Taskin for a boundary down the ground in the next over before collecting a single to complete a 27-ball half-century in just his second international appearance!

After 10 overs, India 101/3 (Nitish Reddy 36, Rinku Singh 26)

India were still under a bit of pressure at the end of the eighth over, going at under eight-an-over losing three wickets along the way. The Men in Blue, however, plunder 39 runs in the last two overs to bring up the team hundred at the halfway stage of the innings! Senior all-rounder Mahmudullah goes for 15 in his first over, bowling a wide in the second ball and following it up with a no-ball two balls later — which is followed by a massive six by Reddy in the free hit, the ball disappearing in the stands several rows behind long on. Mahmudullah later appeals for LBW against Reddy, but the umpire shakes his head. And impact is ‘Umpire’s Call’.

Rishad ends up getting smashed for 24 runs in the following over; Rinku cuts the ball firmly for a four at the start of the over before Reddy collects back-to-back sixes later in the over, smashing the third ball down the ground and the next one towards deep midwicket. The over ends with a mighty pull by Rinku that sends the ball sailing into the stands past midwicket.

After 8 overs, India 62/3 (Nitish Reddy 12, Rinku Singh 14)

Miraz returns for the first time since getting smashed for 15 runs in the first over, and this time he finds the batters at the crease a lot more cautious. Six added to the Indian total in the over including a leg bye at the start of the over. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is introduced in the following over, and Rinku Singh decides to break the shackles in this over by getting down on one knee and unleashing a slog-sweep on a flighted delivery, the ball landing in the stands several rows behind the midwicket part of the boundary.

After 6 overs, India 45/3 (Nitish Reddy 7, Rinku Singh 4)

Nitish Reddy collects his first boundary off Tanzim’s bowling in the fourth delivery of the pacer’s second over, guiding it over extra cover. Chance put down in the very next delivery as Bangladesh keeper Das fails to grab the ball after Reddy appears to get a bit of glove on a short delivery bowled along leg.

Mustafizur Rahman is introduced in the following over, and he gets the big wicket of India skipper Suryakumar Yadav, deceiving him with his trademark cutter that results in a chip straight to Shanto at mid off.

Another tidy over from Taskin, which ends with captain SKY smacking the ball hard down the ground — only for it to hit non-striker Nitish Reddy on the right shoulder. Reddy requires a quick checkup by the physio before carrying on. Another tidy over from Taskin, with just four coming off it including a leg bye.

BOWLED! Tanzim has the last laugh after getting dispatched for back-to-back boundaries by Abhishek as the left-handed opener ends up chopping the ball onto the stumps while looking to pull a length ball in front of square. It’s a searing delivery measuring 147 kmph from the Bangladeshi pacer replacing Shoriful in the XI that gets the better of the explosive opener.

OUT! Samson perishes after a promising start as he ends up getting deceived by a slower delivery from Taskin Ahmed, chipping it straight to Bangladesh skipper Shanto at mid off. The previous ball that Samson had faced from the pacer was measuring 142 clicks, and the change of pace certainly has taken him by surprise. Excellent first over from Taskin with just two runs coming off it along with the wicket of Samson.
