The Indian cricket team will be back in action on Thursday (19 September) when they take on Bangladesh in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Test marks the beginning of a long home season for India, which consists of two Tests against Bangladesh, three T20Is against the same opposition before hosting New Zealand for three Tests in October.
India will also welcome England early next year for five T20Is and three ODIs, ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled to take place in Pakistan.

Apart from the home season, India will also travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with vital World Test Championship (WTC) points at stake across the five Tests that will be played.
However, the focus now for Rohit Sharma and Co will be facing a Bangladesh side who are coming o the back of clinching a historic 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan in Rawalpindi. That took Bangladesh to fourth place in the WTC standings with a points percentage of 45.83, whereas India remain on top with 68.52 per cent points.
The return of Rishabh Pant to the Indian Test squad after a two-year absence is one of the major talking points. Pant sustained multiple injuries during a car accident in December 2022, and only made his return to competitive cricket early this year in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Delhi Capitals (DC).
