The onfield banter between the two wicket-keepers of Australia and India – Tim Paine and Rishabh Pant– was one of the highlights of the Boxing Day Melbourne Test.
Little did anyone know that one of Paine’s hilarious quip would transpire into reality (well, kinda).
On third day of the match, Paine quizzed batsman Pant, if he could babysit his kids so that he can take his wife out for a movie and guess what the Indian stumper accepted the offer and did babysit one of Paine’s kids.
The Aussie skipper’s wife Bonnie Paine shared a picture of Pant with her kids and captioned it “Best Babysitter”.

On Friday, Paine was caught on stump mic saying: “Big MS (Dhoni) is back in the one-day squad too, we might get him (Pant) down to the Hurricanes… we need a batter. Fancy that, Pantsy? Extend your little Aussie holiday. Beautiful town Hobart too, I’ll get you a nice apartment on the waterfront. (I’ll) have him over for dinner. Can you babysit? I’ll take the wife to the movies one night and you’ll look after the kids,” the Aussie captain was heard on the stump mic."
Pant returned the favour next day, indulging in some chatter while Paine was batting.
“We got a special guest today. Have you ever heard of a temporary captain, ever, Mayank?” Pant asked Mayank Agarwal on Saturday.
Virat Kohli and Co registered a comprehensive 137-run win at Melbourne to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The last and final match of the series starts from 3 January in Sydney.
