India vs Australia: Rinku Singh reveals secret behind big shots, Jitesh Sharma speaks on handling pressure

Rinku Singh (46 runs off 29 balls) and Jitesh Sharma (35 off 19) were excellent in the middle overs as they powered India to a total of 174 for 9 and set the stage for a comfortable 20-run victory over Australia to seal the series in the fourth T20I on Friday. This win marked a successful debut as captain for Suryakumar Yadav, who will also lead the side in India’s T20I series in South Africa next month.

India made a promising start, reaching fifty runs within the Powerplay, courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, India slipped from 50/0 to 63/3 with dismissals of Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav.

Rinku Singh came into the match and made a significant impact. He joined hands with Ruturaj Gaikwad and added 48 runs for the fourth wicket, and later, he joined forces with Jitesh Sharma to add 56 runs for the fifth wicket. These partnerships were crucial for India as they brought the innings back on track. Rinku and Jitesh spoke about their match-winning partnership after the match and said their focus was on staying calm in the middle.

“Enjoyed it (the innings) a lot, loved playing in front of the home crowd and performing and scoring runs. enjoyed batting with you and putting on that partnership with you,” Jitesh said in a video posted by the BCCI.

Reacting to his big sixes, Rinku said that he does gym and eats good food and that is the secret behind his power game. He also added that he has played enough cricket and knows how to stick to his plans and back his game.

“Have been playing for a long time now, have played 5-6 seasons in the IPL, back my skills and trust my abilities. Want to always keep calm and react,” Rinku added.

Jitesh made his first appearance of the series and was terrific with his aggressive intent. He made an impactful start by smashing a six off only his fourth delivery and then smacking loose deliveries from debutant Chris Green and Aaron Hardie.

“It does not seem as if you (Rinku) are playing your first series, you look so calm, I was feeling a little pressure and wanted to perform in this first series,” Jitesh said in the video.
