India vs Australia: 'Maxwell is just wow', Netizens reacts to all-rounder's blistering ton in 3rd T20I

Less than a month after his miraculous 201 not out against Afghanistan in an ICC World Cup match in Mumbai, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell pulled off another heist for the ages. This time in a T20I match against India in Guwahati, helping Australia clinch a final-ball thriller and keep their hopes of a series win alive.

Maxwell’s innings ended up overshadowing another blazing century — Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten 123 off just 57 deliveries that helped India recover from a slow start and post a mammoth 222/3 on the board at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium.

The Men in Blue would then be staring at the possibility of a series-clinching victory after reducing the Aussies to 134/5 in the 14th over. Maxwell, however, stood tall at one end even as wickets fell at the other, and the support provided by skipper Matthew Wade in their unbroken 91-run stand for the sixth wicket allowed the all-rounder to go hammer-and-tongs in the death overs.

Maxwell not only ended up equalling the record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Australian with his 47-ball ton, he ensured Australia would live to fight another day in the five-match series after losing the first two matches. Given he will be flying out of the country with a number of other World Cup winners after Tuesday’s fixture, Maxwell also ensured he signed off from his two-month-long stay in India on a happy note.

The all-rounder had been smashed for 30 runs after being tasked with bowling the final over of the Indian innings, but more than made up for it with the bat later in the evening.

It’s not often you see a top class century in a T20i ending up as the second best innings on the day. Ruturaj was exceptional. But then…Maxwell is just wow 🙏🏽 #IndvAus

Only Glenn Maxwell. Only @Gmaxi_32 could have capped off an extraordinary two and a half months in India, worthy of a movie in itself, with another freak show of ridiculousness before heading home #IndvAus
