India vs Australia: Deepak Chahar replaces Mukesh Kumar in hosts' squad for remainder of T20I series

Pacer Deepak Chahar was on Tuesday included in India’s squad for the ongoing T20I series against Australia, replacing fellow speedster Mukesh Kumar. The BCCI on Tuesday announced that Mukesh, 30, had left the team camp after being granted leave for his wedding. “Update: Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the third T20I against Australia in Guwahati. Mukesh is getting married and has been granted leave for the duration of his wedding festivities. He will join the squad ahead of the 4th T20I in Raipur. Pacer Deepak Chahar has been added to India’s squad for the remainder of the series,” BCCI posted on ‘X’, shortly before the third T20I was to get underway.

Meanwhile, Avesh Khan has replaced Mukesh Kumar for the third T20I in Guwahati, which is currently underway. India lead the five-match series 2-0 with victories in Vizag and Thiruvanathapuram. At the time of writing this report, the Men in Blue were 27/2 in the fifth over, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav batting.
