Rohit Sharma endured another forgettable outing after he was dismissed for a golden duck in the second T20I between India and Afghanistan in Indore on Sunday. Rohit had made his T20I comeback after 14 months in the first T20I in Mohali, a venue where he was dismissed for a two-ball duck. The India skipper, as a result, created an unwanted record with his dismissal on Sunday. This was the first time in his T20I career when Rohit has been dismissed for consecutive ducks. In the second T20I, Rohit cleaned up by Fazalhaq Farooqi after going for a pull shot. In the first T20I, Rohit was dismissed in unceremonious fashion after he was involved in a mix-up with Shubman Gill. Rohit had drilled towards mid-off and called for a quick single, but Gill at the non-strikers’ end had ended up watching the ball instead of responding to Rohit’s call. That eventually meant Rohit ended up at the non-strikers’ end while being run-out by wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz. At the time of writing this report, India were 157/4 in the 14th over, needing only 16 runs to win. A half-century from Gulbadin Naib had led Afghanistan to 172. India are leading the T20I series 1-0 after their six-wicket win in Mohali.
