India have been crowned champions after a dominant 9-wicket victory over South Africa in the final of the prestigious U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. India’s chase was anchored by a superb unbeaten partnership between Gongadi Trisha (44* off 33) and Sanika Chalke (26* off 22). After losing the early wicket of G Kamalini (8), the pair put on a match-winning stand, comfortably guiding India to the required total. Trisha, in particular, was in scintillating form, hitting eight boundaries and controlling the chase with confidence. Chalke supported her brilliantly, maintaining the required run rate throughout.
