It has been reported that Jasprit Bumrah has consulted New Zealand-based orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rowan Schouten, about the back spasm issue that he face during the Sydney Test. Bumrah had undergone back surgery in New Zealand in 2023 under Schouten’s guidance. “The surgeon is in touch with BCCI’s medical team and the selectors are expected to be informed,” a report in HT said.

The recent development will give clarity to BCCI selectors over Bumrah’s availability for the ODIs against England or the Champions Trophy 2025.

Tiwary pointed out that Gambhir doesn’t do the things he says.

“Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says. Where is the captain (Rohit) from? Mumbai. Where is Abhishek Nayar from? Mumbai. They got a chance to put a Mumbai player in the forefront. There is no one to speak for Jalaj Saxena. He performs well but keeps quiet,” Tiwary said to News18 Bangla.

“Morne Morkel came from Lucknow Super Giants. Abhishek Nayar was at Kolkata Knight Riders with Gambhir and the Indian head coach has a comfort zone with him. They have to be yes men to the coach. That’s why they were brought,” he added.

Pat Cummins is doubtful for the Champions Trophy 2025 as he has been rested for the upcoming Sri Lanka Test series. He is suffering from an ankle issue that was managed during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

“We’ll have to wait and see when that scan comes back and see how it’s tracking,” chief selector George Bailey said on Thursday.
