The Rohit Sharma-led team has been among the standout sides in the tournament so far and were widely backed to sign off from the USA leg of the World Cup with four wins in as many outings, which ultimately couldn’t happen due to inclement weather in Florida, including in Miami.
The result was met with a variety of reactions on social media, with several fans slamming the ground staff at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill for not doing more to prevent yet another washout.
Lauderhill had been allotted four matches in the group stage of the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, and the three matches that have taken place at the venue so far have all been abandoned with a single ball bowled, including Friday’s USA vs Ireland fixture that resulted in Pakistan getting knocked out in the first round.
Many an X user went on to cite the example of Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is known for its excellent drainage system, as well as Sri Lankan venues that are known to be fully covered within minutes even if it’s a drizzle.

Learn how to make a good ground from Chinnaswamy stadium.
They has the best Sub-air drainage and aeration system in the world . If India can why others can’t? pic.twitter.com/LDduykbpfV
This, however uncomfortable, is a reminder of the wider challenges cricket will experience as the climate emergency worsens. In Florida's case rising sea levels, but it's different in each country, as documented in the 2019 Hit For Six report. No silver lining, no cold comfort. https://t.co/5h2zaoFvX2

Lauderhill has got to be one of the worst WC venues of all time. 2/2 games were abandoned without a ball played. Today's game already delayed and it doesn't look great, and who knows if there will be a game tomorrow either 🙃

The least that the @ICC and the local authorities cud have done was to ensure that the ground at Lauderhill was 100% covered. The cant control rain but covers were very much controllable. High level of incompetence.

You may refund us the match tickets, but then our Hotel and Air Tickets?
Ridiculous, How can you leave the ground uncovered for such a game ?! #T20WorldCup #IndvsCan pic.twitter.com/EXhl2oaROU
