The visitors got off to a confident start but lost Phil Salt (43), Ben Duckett (32) and Harry Brook (0) all in the space of just an over within the first powerplay. Jos Buttler (52) and Jacob Bethell (51) led England’s revival with a 59-run stand for the fifth wicket, but the bowlers led by Ravindra Jadeja (3/26) and Harshit Rana (3/53) restricted the visitors to 248 in 47.4 overs.
India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma within the first six overs of the chase but the middle-order batters led a gritty fightback to hold the nerve and lead the Men in Blue to a four-wicket win with 11.2 overs to spare.
