Additionally, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee picked Sanju Samson ahead of Ishan Kishan for the wicketkeeper’s slot with Rishabh Pant also being rested for the T20Is after taking part in the ongoing two-Test series. Besides Bumrah and Pant, top-order batters Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, left-arm spinner Axar Patel and pacer Mohammed Siraj are some of the other players who have been rested, all of whom are part of the Test squad.
Samson has been retained in the T20I squad despite getting dismissed for back-to-back ducks during the T20I series in Sri Lanka, which the Men in Blue ended up winning 3-0. Before the Sri Lanka trip, the Rajasthan Royals captain had scored a sparkling half-century in Zimbabwe.

View AllBoth Samson and Kishan had featured in the Duleep Trophy recently and scored a century each. Samson, however, scored a lot more runs (196) compared to Kishan (134).
Also included is Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Harshit Rana, who had been included for the first two T20Is in the tour of Zimbabwe and the ODI leg of the tour of Sri Lanka, but is yet to make his international debut.
The selectors, however, decided to drop left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and bring Mayank in his place.
Khaleel had played three matches in the tour of Zimbabwe, in which a second-string Indian team lead by Gill defeated Zimbabwe 4-1, and his only appearance in the tour of Sri Lanka came in the third T20I that ended in a Super Over win for the Men in Blue.
The series gets underway on 6 October in Gwalior, with the second and third fixtures taking place in Delhi (9 October) and Hyderabad (12 October) respectively.
India currently lead the Test series 1-0 following their 280-run thrashing of the Tigers in Chennai. The second Test got underway on Kanpur on Friday, with Bangladesh currently 107/3 after two rain-interrupted days.
