Besides Bumrah and Pant, top-order batters Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, left-arm spinner Axar Patel and pacer Mohammed Siraj are some of the other players who have been rested, all of whom are part of the Test squad.

Samson has been retained in the T20I squad despite getting dismissed for back-to-back ducks during the T20I series in Sri Lanka, which the Men in Blue ended up winning 3-0.  Before the Sri Lanka trip, the Rajasthan Royals captain had scored a sparkling half-century in Zimbabwe.

India currently lead the Test series 1-0 following their 280-run thrashing of the Tigers in Chennai. The second Test got underway on Kanpur on Friday, with Bangladesh currently 107/3 after two rain-interrupted days.
