Records tumbled at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur as India put the pedal to the metal in search of an unlikely win in the second Test against Bangladesh. India set the records for the fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in men’s Test cricket after they came out to bat on Day 4 of the match.
Over two days in the match was lost due to rain but play finally resumed on Monday as Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 with Mominul Haque scoring a fighting hundred. In reply, India took just three overs to get to the 50-run mark as Yashasvi Jaiswal made 30 not out of just 13 balls, and captain Rohit Sharma smashed 19 from six balls.
This is the first time a team in Test cricket reached the score of 50 in just three overs.
Rohit eventually got out on 23 off 11 but Jaiswal continued to attack the Bangladesh bowlers, bringing up his fifty in just 31 balls – the third-joint fastest for India.
