India vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test Day 3: For the second straight days, India and Bangladesh were deprived of cricket action as play was called off at 2pm IST following a third inspection.
There was no rain throughout the day in Kanpur but damp surface and outfield ensured no cricket was possible. The second day was also washed out without any ball bowled. The opening day witnessed just 35 overs with Bangladesh scoring 107 at the loss of three wickets.
India had won the toss and elected to bowl after a delayed start on Friday, with the visiting team recovering after a shaky start and reaching 107/3 after 35 overs when poor light forced the umpires to call the players back to their respective dressing rooms.
Mominul Haque was batting on 40, stitching a 51-run partnership with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) as the pair helped the Tigers recover from 29/2.
The players would then head back to their hotels from the pavilion as a heavy shower resulted in the umpires signalling stumps shortly before 3 pm local time, more than an hour-and-a-half before the scheduled close of play.
Things went from bad to worse on Saturday as incessant rain resulted in play being called off on Day 2 without a single delivery bowled, the umpires declaring stumps at 2 pm local time.
