India won the toss in Kanpur and decided to bowl first in the second Test against Bangladesh on Friday. India are already 1-0 up in the two-match series with a 280-run victory in Chennai. The change of venue, however, did not lead to a change in India’s playing XI as Team India retained the same XI as the first Test which means Kuldeep Yadav has been made to sit on the bench again.
IND vs BAN 2nd Test: LIVE Scores from Green Park
While many expected local lad Kuldeep to get a chance at home in Kanpur, the green grass on the black soil pitch meant India captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir decided to stick to the same playing XI and three pacers.
What Rohit Sharma say at the toss?
“We are going to bowl first. The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads and we want our three seamers to make use of it. We didn’t start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score and the bowlers did the job. I expect no different here (fight from Bangladesh), we will be challenged but we have the experience to bounceback. Same team,” he said.
Green Park Stadium pitch report: One of the major reasons India decided to stick with three pacers is the moisture in the pitch in Kanpur. The pitch looks pretty soft with overnight rain and green grass on it. The pitch, however, is made of black soil which means it will help spinners heavily as the match progresses.
