The Netherlands cricket team do not have a storied history, like a few other teams, when it comes to the ODI World Cup.
The Dutch have just four appearances in the World Cup so far, all of those ending in group stage exits.
This time, however, they have a squad that can cause a few upsets, if not for anything more. Roelef van der Merwe, who has previously played international cricket for South Africa, will now play for Netherlands, having secured a Dutch passport in 2015.
Logan van beek and Wesley Barressi are a couple of other established names in the Dutch set up, who could play a pivotal role.
Let’s now take a look at Netherlands’ history in the World Cup, along with other statistics:

World Cup recap: The Netherlands had not qualified for the tournament proper of the World Cup until 1996. However, the Dutch, led by Steven Lubbers, failed to win a single match that year, suffering defeats to New Zealand, England, Pakistan, UAE and South Africa.
It was only in their next appearance in the World Cup, in 2003, when Netherlands would beat Namibia for their first win in the tournament.
The only other win for the Netherlands in the ODI World Cup would come in the West Indies against Scotland, in 2007.
It was a low-scoring affair in St Kitts, with Scotland having been bowled out for just 136 after batting first.

Netherlands also played in the 2011 World Cup, but like the 1996 edition, they ended the campaign without a win and eventually finished last in their group.
