Women's T20 World Cup: India faces Pakistan on 6 October, ICC announces revised schedule

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a revised schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 which will take place from 3 to 20 October in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai and Sharjah will host the ninth edition of the women’s T20 World Cup which will start with a clash between Bangladesh and Scotland on 3 October before Pakistan takes on Sri Lanka on the same day.

India’s first match is against New Zealand on 4 October in Dubai.

The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup was to take place in Bangladesh but was recently shifted to UAE due to political unrest in the South Asian nation.

Format:

Ten teams will play 23 matches, over 18 action-packed days. The teams have been divided into two groups of five sides each.

Group A: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

Group B: South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Scotland

Each team will compete in four group matches, scheduled across the two venues. Both venues will have the added excitement of hosting three double-header matchdays each.

The top two teams from each Group will play the second placed team from the opposite Group. Semi-final 1 will be held in Dubai on 17 October and Semi-final 2 in Sharjah on 18 October. If India advances to the Semi-finals, they will play in Semi-final 1.
