Champions Trophy 2025, ICC Meeting Highlights: The future regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy slated to be hosted by Pakistan could be decided on Saturday, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) set to hold the rescheduled board meeting on Saturday. As had been reported earlier, the ICC had held a virtual board meeting on Friday that was attended by top officials including BCCI secretary Jay Shah and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
However, the meeting lasted less than 15 minutes before being rescheduled to Saturday. India have refused to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year, whereas the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reiterated their stance against holding the tournament in a hybrid model. The ICC has reportedly issued an ultimatum to the PCB regarding the hybrid model proposal, stating that should PCB not accept the hybrid model, the Champions Trophy will go ahead without Pakistan.
“The Board did meet briefly today. All parties continue to work towards a positive resolution for the Champions Trophy 2025 and it is expected that the Board will reconvene on Saturday and continue to meet over the next few days,” an ICC Full Member’s senior administrator told PTI.
