Teams participating in the upcoming Champions Trophy had until Tuesday to make changes to their provisional squads, with the ICC having set 11 February as the deadline for the same. India and hosts Pakistan were late to unveil their provisional squads for the ninth edition of the ‘Mini World Cup’, making the announcement six and 19 days after the 12 January deadline set by the Dubai-based governing body for the sport.
The two arch-rivals, however, respected the ICC’s deadline when it came to confirming their final 15 for the Champions Trophy, as did the remaining six teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has made a habit of making important announcements close to midnight and it was no different on Tuesday when they confirmed the news of senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah being ruled out of the upcoming event .
