Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2024 Match 5 preview: Both Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to begin a new era in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they lock horns in the second match of the Sunday double-header in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, after all, is set to make his debut as Mumbai Indians captain on Sunday after leading Gujarat Titans to back-to-back finals in the last two editions, including the title on debut in 2022.

Pandya had been traded to MI from GT in a blockbuster, all-cash move in November and was later named skipper of the massively successful franchise, bringing the curtains down on Rohit Sharma’s decade-long reign as captain in which he led the franchise to five titles, including back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020.

GT, meanwhile, named opener Shubman Gill as their new captain following Pandya return to the franchise from where he had begun his IPL journey in 2015. At 24 years of age, Punjab batter Gill is the youngest captain in the 17th season of the cash-rich league.

GT and MI currently have a 2-2 head-to-head record in four meetings since 2022. While Mumbai won their only meeting in 2022, at the Brabourne Stadium, Gujarat would win two out of three meetings the following season, including Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad.
