India vs Pakistan is considered to be the mother of all cricket rivalries. With all its suspense and drama, the India-Pakistan clash is undoubtedly one of the most enthralling ones in the history of the game. Though, the rivals have not competed in a bilateral series in more than a decade and fans currently get to witness their competition in ICC events and continental competitions. Gautam Gambhir recently shared his views on this epic rivalry. The former cricketer feels that the India-Pakistan rivalry has now lost its charm. In Gambhir’s opinion, the rivalry between India and Australia is currently the top choice. “India and Australia, from a cricketing point of view, is a top rivalry. If you ask a cricket fan what is the actual rivalry, they will also say India and Australia," Gambhir said on Star Sports. Team India, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, had secured their maiden Test series win against Australia in Australia back in 2018-19. India clinched back-to-back Test series victories Down Under 2020-21. The Aussies, however, succeeded in defeating India in the final of the World Test Championship in 2023. India and Pakistan, on the other hand, last faced each other during a World Cup 2023 contest. Playing in Ahmedabad, the hosts had won that game by seven wickets. The Indian cricket team have had an edge over Pakistan in recent times. Gambhir also talked about India’s dominance over Pakistan. “Pakistan has dominated India a lot of times. Currently, if you see the level of both teams, India is far superior to Pakistan in all three formats. If Pakistan defeats India it’s an upset, if India defeats Pakistan, it’s very much given," Gambhir pointed out. Last year, the two sides were up against each other in ODIs twice and India emerged victorious on both occasions.
