Free entry for fans at Wankhede Stadium for India Women’s T20I series against England

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced that fans will be allowed free entry to watch the three-match T20I series between India Women and England Women at the Wankhede Stadium. The three-match series, slated to start on 6 December, will take place at the iconic Mumbai venue. Sharing a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the MCA, asked all fans to be present in large numbers for the England Women’s T20I outing against India. MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik stated that the decision to offer free entry was unanimously passed by MCA President Amol Kale in a bid to boost support for women’s cricket.

Attention All! 📢

All fans are welcome to walk into Wankhede and watch the England Women's Tour of India for free. 😍✨

Make sure to note down the dates on your calendar and seize this wonderful opportunity! 🙌🏻💯#INDvENG #MCA #Mumbai #Cricket #IndianCricket #Wankhede #BCCI pic.twitter.com/JrEoKLAF37

“Unlocking the gates for free entry not only fills the stadium but also opens the door to a world of empowerment through women’s T20 cricket,” Naik was quoted as saying by News18. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India has been quite successful this year in T20I cricket. The Indian women’s team will head into the series after bagging a gold medal in the Asian Games. They have also won an away series against Bangladesh (2-1). India also reached the final of the triangular series in South Africa, featuring West Indies as the third team. On the other hand, world number two England will be looking to bounce back after the disappointment of a 1-2 loss to Sri Lanka at home. However, they have a good record against India and hence, this series promises to be a cracking contest. After the completion of the T20I series, India Women and England Women will feature in a Test match. The England women’s team will be extremely familiar with Wankhede Stadium since it was used extensively in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The players would also aim to put up an impressive show ahead of the WPL 2024 auction.
