Firstpost Cricast Episode 2: Cheteshwar Pujara's brilliant century, discipline bowling and more talking points from India's 31-run win in first Test

India completed a 31-run win over Australia in the first Test match at the Adelaide Oval on the final day of the match and discuss the three key talking points from the opening Test of India’s tour Down Under Cheteshwar Pujara’s brilliant century in the first innings followed by fifties for him and Ajinkya Rahane in second essay as India emerged winners for the sixth time in a Test in Australia. Pujara aside, the Indian bowlers choked the Australian run-supply and that meant the home side failed to get any momentum in either of their innings. While Ishant Sharma was his usual thrifty self, Jasprit Bumrah roared back from an underwhelming first spell to pick up six wickets in the match and Mohammed Shami continued with his second innings shenanigans. R Ashwin might not have got as much purchase from the second innings rough outside the off-stump as Nathan Lyon did but he held one end up and played his part in the Indian win. A fighting late-order batting showing by the Australian tail brought memories of the English tour recently where the likes of Sam Curran and Co. had punished the Indian side on more than one occasion but the Indian bowlers held their nerves and completed a narrow victory. India will look to take this momentum into the second Test which will be played in Perth but the big question will now be if the team management will want to go into the next game with the same XI or opt for a bowling side with more options. They had gone in with a four-man attack in the opening Test, opting to play Rohit Sharma as the extra batsman.
