Namibia batter Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton on Tuesday became the fastest to score a hundred in men’s T20Is, in the game against Nepal. Loftie-Eaton took just 33 balls to get to his hundred, surpassing the record set by Nepal’s Kushal Malla last year. Malla had got to his century in just 34 balls against Mongolia at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.
Loftie-Eaton on Tuesday walked in to bat with Namibia struggling at 62/3 against Nepal in the first match of the Tri-Nation T20I series. He quickly got into the action and took just 33 deliveries to get to his century. Loftie-Eaton finished on 101 off 36 balls and his whirlwind knock consisted of 11 fours and eight sixes.
He helped Namibia post 206/4 in their 20 overs and while Nepal fought back valiantly with crucial knocks from Rohit Paudel (42), Malla (32), Dipendra Singh Airee (48) and Sompal Kami (26), the hosts fell short by 20 runs.
Loftie-Eaton also picked up two wickets in the match and was declared as the Player of the Match.
