Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis and stand-in Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Sam Curran ended up on the losing side in the Sunday double-header, suffering narrow defeats against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively.
To make matters worse, both du Plessis and Curran were handed fines for breaching the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during their respective matches.
South African du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during his team’s heart-breaking one-run defeat against KKR at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, resulting in the Royal Challengers copping their first fine due to an over-rate offence this season.
