'England should be devastated': Ravi Shastri's brutal take on Jos Buttler and Co's poor form

Cricket World Cup defending champions England are struggling for form, being at the bottom of the 10-team table in the ongoing ICC event. There were high hopes from the England team coming into the World Cup 2023, but after five defeats from six matches, England have been the worst team so far in the tournament. Only the fact that each team has nine games to play in the round-robin format has kept them alive in the World Cup. World Cup 2023: News | Schedule | Results | Points table The biggest concern for England has been the manner in which they have also their matches. They have constantly failed to score 200 runs and the same happened on Sunday when India crushed them by 100 runs . Chasing 230, England were bowled out for just 129. Because the first match which they lost, 17 overs were left in the game when New Zealand beat them. Against South Africa, they got all out in 20 overs. That game ended early. Then they were all out in 30 overs against Sri Lanka, where SL chased the target and finished the match in 25 overs. Today, they had lost 8 wickets inside 32 overs. You call yourselves World Champions? It means, if they aren’t sad over their performance, who will?” Shastri said on air while commentating on thegame. “If someone asks what is the difference between India and England, it is of 8 teams”. Shastri added that England must look to win their remaining matches from now to at least qualifify for 2025 Champions Trophy. Read |  Rohit Sharma hails India for showing ‘lot of character’ against England “From here on, England will have to play for pride. The reason I am saying that is because right now they are at the bottom of the points table. And in the Champions Trophy which takes place in 2025, only the top 8 teams of the World Cup can qualify. So if England remain in the bottom two, imagine a team like them not playing an ICC tournament as big as the CT would be a huge blow,” Shastri added.
