Dinesh Karthik, who recently retired from all forms of cricket, has been appointed the batting coach and mentor of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the franchise announced on Monday.
In their announcement post on X, RCB wrote: “Welcome our keeper in every sense, Dinesh Karthik, back into RCB in an all new avatar. DK will be the Batting Coach and Mentor of RCB Men’s team! You can take the man out of cricket but not cricket out of the man! Shower him with all the love, 12th Man Army!”
Karthik, who played for RCB in IPL 2024, retired after the Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals (RR) which Bengaluru lost by four wickets and exited the tournament.
On 1 June, Karthik revealed on X that he will be returning from professional cricket.
“Having given it plenty of thought for some time now, I have decided to move on from playing representative cricket. I officially announce my retirement and put my playing days behind me as I square up for the new challenges that lie ahead,” Karthik wrote.
