MS Dhoni celebrates 43rd birthday; cuts cake in presence of wife Sakshi and Salman Khan

MS Dhoni is celebrating his 43rd birthday on Sunday and the former India captain marked the occasion by cutting a cake in the presence of his wife Sakshi Dhoni and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The video of Dhoni cutting the cake and later offering it to Sakshi and Salman is going viral on social media platforms.

Dhoni is currently in Mumbai to attend the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

Saman Khan also wished Dhoni on his birthday on X (formerly Twitter). “Happy Birthday Kaptaan Sahab! @msdhoni,” he wrote on X.

Dhoni, who led India to a record three ICC titles, was last seen in action in IPL 2024. The star wicketkeeper-batter has retired from all forms of cricket apart from IPL but handed over the Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in the last season.

In IPL 2024, Dhoni scored 1616 runs in 14 matches at a whopping strike rate of 220.55 and an average of 53.67.

The veteran has been facing knee issues for the last few years and also underwent a keyhole surgery in 2023 for the same issue. This has resulted in him batting lower down the order, mostly at the No.8 slot.

Overall in 264 matches, he has scored 5243 runs at an average of 39.13 and a strike rate of 137.54.

Dhoni retired from Tests in 2014 after playing 90 matches in which he scored 4876 runs at 38.09. He also scores six hundreds and 33 fifties and has the highest score of 224.

His retirement from white-ball international cricket came in 2020 after playing 350 ODI and 98 T20Is.

In ODIs, he scored 10773 runs at an average of 50.57 and a strike rate of 87.56. Dhoni scored 10 centuries and 73 fifties in ODIs.

In T20Is, he amassed 1617 runs at an average of 37.60 and a strike rate of 126.13. He scored two fifties in T20Is.
