Priyansh Arya, playing for South Delhi Superstarz in the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), slammed six sixes in an over on Saturday during a game against North Delhi Strikers.
With the feat, Priyansh joined an elite list that consists of Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard to have hit six sixes in an over in the shortest format, although Yuvraj and Pollard’s efforts came in international cricket.
Priyansh thus became the first cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in the DPL. It was in the 12th over of the Superstarz’ innings when the 23 year-old took on Manan Bharadwaj and punished him mercilessly. He went onto score a century off just 40 deliveries, hitting 10 sixes in total. Priyansh finished his innings with 120 runs from 50 balls.
Apart from Priyansh, Ayush Badoni, too, scored a century, reaching the milestone in 39 deliveries. The duo’s twin tons took South Delhi Superstarz to 308/5, which is now the second highest total in T20s. The highest total in T20s remains 314/4 by Nepal against Mongolia last year. South Delhi also surpassed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s total of 287/3 that they set during the IPL earlier this year.
The duo of Priyansh and Badoni shared 286 runs, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in T20s. The two hit a combined tally of 29 sixes against North Delhi.
