The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially announced the fixtures of the 2025 Champions Trophy on Tuesday, with the tournament beginning with a match between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi on 19 February. The marquee India vs Pakistan match will take place in Dubai on 23 February. India will play all of their matches in Dubai.
India are in Group A along with defending champions and hosts Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh. Group B features Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan. Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi have been named as venues that will host the games in Pakistan.
The first semi-final, on 4 March, will take place in Dubai whereas Lahore will host the second semi-final on 5 March. This means regardless of where India finish if they qualify, the Men in Blue will play the first semi-final in Dubai. Lahore will host the final on 9 March, but if India qualify for the summit clash, then Dubai will host the match. There is a reserve day (10 March) for the final.
The 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model after India refused to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns . Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was initially reluctant to agree to the hybrid model at first, the board later agreed to the model on certain conditions.
The PCB had requested ICC to implement the hybrid model format in future global tournaments in India. The ICC approved this and as a result, all global tournaments that take place in India till 2027 will be held in a hybrid model format. This means that Pakistan won’t travel to India to play their matches.
