Pakistan’s legendary batter Javed Miandad feels the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has emerged as the winner against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after a hybrid model was accepted for India and Pakistan's matches in all ICC events till 2027 . After days of impasse over the Champions Trophy 2025, the deadlock ended on Thursday as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the tournament will be held in a hybrid model, with India playing their matches at a neutral venue, while Pakistan will also not travel to India for ICC events till 2027.
The 67-year-old Javed Miandad, who scored 8832 runs in 124 Tests and 7381 runs in 233 ODIs, lauded PCB for taking a “sensible approach” after BCCI refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 and added that PCB has “gained more than BCCI” after the solution opted by ICC.
‘PCB sent a clear message to India’
“I think the PCB took the sensible approach and instead of doing something rash and facing isolation in the ICC and among other cricket nations, it opted for a solution where I think the PCB has gained more than the BCCI,” said Miandad.
Miandad, who scored 31 international hundreds in a glittering career, also said that PCB has “sent a clear message” that if India don’t come to Pakistan, the Men in Green will also not visit their neighbours.
“Still Pakistan is hosting a big event after a very long time and we have sent a clear message that if you don’t come and play in our country, we will also not play in India,” Miandad said.
As a result of the new agreement, Pakistani teams will not be travelling to India for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India and the 2026 T20 World Cup which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.
