Champions Trophy 2025, ICC Meeting Highlights: The moment of reckoning for Champions Trophy 2025 has come as far as its scheduling is concerned. The International Cricket Council (ICC) will be holding an emergency board meeting today (29 November, Friday) with all the full-time members including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to decide the future of the tournament. The Champions Trophy 2025 ICC meeting will reportedly take place virtually at 2.30 PM Dubai time (4.00 PM IST) on 29 November (Friday) 2024.
The fate of Champions Trophy 2025 has been in limbo ever since BCCI refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the tournament due to security issues. PCB’s tough stance on the matter where they have refused to accept a Hybrid Model has created an unwanted standoff. The ICC, meanwhile, has failed to meet its contractual obligation of releasing the schedule 100 days before the tournament and now faces legal threats from the broadcasters.
In such a scenario, the ICC was forced to call for an emergency board meeting where it was reported that the members could be asked to vote for or against the Hybrid Model. if things go out of hand then Pakistan can also lose the hosting rights. However, ICC is trying to find a middle ground by offering extra financial incentives to PCB and making them ready for a Hybrid Model where India matches will be played outside of Pakistan. A similar model was followed during Asia Cup 2023.
