The International Cricket Council (ICC) will reportedly hold a virtual board meeting on Friday (29 November) where the sport’s governing body will come to a decision with regards to the fate of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

There were reports of an emergency meeting taking place on 26 November, but according to a report in ESPNCricinfo, the meeting will take place virtually on 29 November. The report also adds that the board members will be needed to vote in a bid to come to a conclusion.
The schedule for next year’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan is yet to be announced with less than three months to go, and this is because of the fact that India have refused to travel to the country due to security issues. While a hybrid model proposal is being considered, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, are not ready to accept that as they are eager to host the entire tournament in Pakistan.

Two weeks ago, the BCCI had informed the ICC that the Indian government had refused to provide them with clearance for the Men in Blue to travel to Pakistan. The PCB, in response, wrote to the ICC on what were the reasons behind India’s refusal to tour the country. However, the PCB are yet to receive a response from the ICC.
As per a draft schedule submitted by the PCB, the Champions Trophy is set to begin on 19 February, 2025 and run till 9 March. The venues that have been shortlisted for the tournament are Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

Representatives from the 12 Full Member nations as well as three Associate nations make up the ICC Board. With Jay Shah set to officially take over as new ICC chairman on 1 December, the upcoming board meeting be the last under Greg Barclay’s chairmanship.
